"A WARM WELCOME TO THE HEART OF THE VILLAGE"
Once described as "The community with its back against the mountain and its feet in the river."
The Gwaelod y Garth Inn is at the centre of that community. Tucked away in the north of Cardiff at the foot of the Garth Mountain, we are definitely worth finding.
Here at The Gwaelod y Garth Inn we make every effort to make you feel at home in our pub,
restaurant and rooms.
Rob and Sam took over the reins in December 2018 and are focused on ensuring that the pub's excellent
reputation is continued.

The GyG Phone Box Project Update After a long wait, we’re excited to share that we’ve finally received permission to transform the old red phone box into a community defibrillator hub. Before the defibrillator is installed, the box itself is getting a well-deserved makeover. (Don’t worry, we’re not painting it bright pink!) We’ve sourced the proper heritage red paint from specialists in phone box restoration, and this week we’ve started prepping, scraping off the old flaky layers and smoothing it down. It’ll soon be ready for a fresh coat and a new lease of life. The Book Swap currently inside the phone box will be moving temporarily to the pub but watch this space, as we’ve got plans for it going forward. Once everything is complete, we’ll begin rolling out defibrillator training sessions for the community. Thanks for your support so far! We’ll keep you updated as the project progresses. #phoneboxprojectButton

It’s almost festival season! Our first event of 2026 is our annual Beer & Burger Festiv-Ale, on Sunday 24th May. This one has out-grown our little beer garden (thanks to you lot!) so we’re moving the event to the car park this year. This will prevent ‘spillage’ out onto the road, which has always been a safety concern, and allow cars to pass through the village without obstruction. Don’t worry neighbours, it’s not going to be on the same scale as Sausage & Cider!! Seating will be limited, so we suggest you bring along your camping chair (not lounger!) and blanket. We can’t wait to see you all there! πΊππButton

It's going be a GOOOOOOOD FRIDAY! Tonight we will be smashing amazing Welsh Black Beef Burgers from our family farm sat on top of the Garth from 6.30pm. One or two of those, washed down with our own craft beers while listening and dancing to the amazing sound of Dan Welsby makes for the perfect start to the Bank Holiday Weekend. @garth.farm @dhw_musicButton
