"A WARM WELCOME TO THE HEART OF THE VILLAGE"
Once described as "The community with its back against the mountain and its feet in the river."
The Gwaelod y Garth Inn is at the centre of that community. Tucked away in the north of Cardiff at the foot of the Garth Mountain, we are definitely worth finding.
Here at The Gwaelod y Garth Inn we make every effort to make you feel at home in our pub,
restaurant and rooms.
Rob and Sam took over the reins in December 2018 and are focused on ensuring that the pub's excellent
reputation is continued.

Book Launch at The Gwaelod y Garth Inn Shipwreck, Survival, and a Journey to One of the World’s Most Remote Islands In 1918, after their ship caught fire and sank in the South Seas, the crew of the barque Inverness spent seven days and seven nights adrift in lifeboats before reaching the remote island of Rapa Iti — 770 miles south of Tahiti. Among them was eighteen-year-old Welsh sailor Thomas Harding Jones. Drawing on his grandfather’s handwritten copy of the captain’s daybook, family stories, and years of research, author Alwyn Harding Jones brings this extraordinary true story of survival, endurance, and safe harbour back to life. Join us at The Gwaelod y Garth Inn for an atmospheric evening… In conversation with Alwyn Readings from the book Audience Q&A Welsh Cheese Boards Discover how an almost-forgotten maritime disaster became a life-changing family legacy and a story that deserves to be passed on. £17 per person https://booking.resdiary.com/widget/Standard/TheGwaelodyGarthInn/67391?date=2026-03-05 https://rapa.cymruButton
